In 2003, Niklas Zennstrom and Janus Fris, founded the Skype telecommunications application. Skype allows people to video chat and voice calls between computers, tablets, smartphones, smartwatches, X-box One console, etc. The application was influenced greatly by the telephone. The telephone allowed people to make and receive voice calls.

In a way, Skype revolutionized telecommunication because it incorporated the ability to see by using a webcam and speak through a microphone to communicate. In addition, the application has instant messaging that allows users to exchange text, images, word documents, etc. The application is used internationally for business and entertainment. Skype has it all, but it could have more.

I believe Skype is going to influence future technology immensely. As time advance so does technology. Today, we lack the ability to communicate using a 3-D hologram. If researches figure out how to create a live 3-D hologram chat, the world will change. Imagine being able to hug your mother who is thousands of miles away with the touch of a button as simple as making a Skype or telephone call. 3-D telecommunication is the future and I hope I am here to see video-chatting evolve into something greater.
